Taking shape

Long journeys are what BICII started for. These routes, stages and details are samples while we ride the first ones.

Everything that’s still missing

Routes

What self-supported actually means

  • You carry everything

Shelter, cooking, tools, spares, and enough water to reach the next town. Typically 10–15 kg on the bike before water.

  • There is no van

If you stop, the group stops or the group goes on. Agree which before you leave, and mean it.

  • You fix your own bike

Learn the basics before you go: a puncture, a broken chain, a loose bolt. Ask us and we'll show you.

  • Weather decides

Routes change. In the monsoon, days get shortened or abandoned. Don't book anything tight for the last evening.

The short version of the kit list

Built for the tropics. Ask us for the full list.

Sleeping

  • Hammock or a light tent
  • Sleeping bag liner
  • Insect repellent

Cooking

  • Small stove
  • One pot
  • Spork, mug, lighter

Tools

  • Multi-tool
  • Pump
  • Tubes and patches
  • Chain link and tool

Carrying

  • Bar roll
  • Frame bag
  • Seat pack
  • 3 L water minimum
  • Passport

Start with the overnighter.

Two days is long enough to find out whether this is for you, and short enough that it's fine if it isn't.
